Red Earth Co-Director: Amanda Wilde visited the bustling team of NTU Theatre Studies students this week to catch up with all the exciting developments of the Soonchild Project.
“The group have been working incredibly hard over the last week, producing a script inspired by the book. Each scene responds to an aspect of the story that Red Earth asked them to look at.
We spent the day working on elements of the script and how the audience will be led around the space to witness each scene. NTU Tutor & Puppet Maker Sean Myatt supported the students in refining the shadow puppetry in certain sections – an 8ft tall puppet of Nanuk the Ice-Bear, promises to be an exciting and challenging addition to the show and for the single person operator!
The students now have the rest of the week to complete the major design and puppet elements. Next week the team will be in full rehearsals, followed by sharing sessions with primary school pupils the week after.”
The pressure is on!
