Andrew Breakwell

Andrew is a freelance theatre director/educator. Previously, he was Director of Roundabout & Education at Nottingham Playhouse from 1999-2012. He also worked at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, York Theatre Royal, the Wilde Theatre in Bracknell and the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough.

Most recently Andrew directed THE UNDERGROUND MAN by Nick Wood from the novel by Mick Jackson, for the Nottingham Playhouse Studio with AJTC Theatre, which later toured nationally.

Andrew also contributes to the Community Theatre course at East 15 Theatre School (University of Essex), lectures from time to time at the Universities of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent and Bishop Grosseteste in Lincoln and was an ACE Assessor creating reports about productions and venues across the country.

Andrew has been particularly keen throughout his career to develop new writing for the theatre, with an emphasis on work for young people and their families. He is currently the co-director of Big Window Theatre, based in Nottingham, who specialise in work for the very young.
